Project Selection
& Partnership Policy
Purpose:
The Peace River Rotaract Club exists to create meaningful, hands-on service projects that improve our
community through action, leadership, and volunteerism.
Our role is to identify community needs, develop impactful initiatives, and empower our members to make a
difference. We are not a funding organization, event management service, or volunteer agency.
Our Guiding Principles:
When evaluating new opportunities, we ask:
-
Does this align with our mission?
-
Will Rotaract members play an active role?
-
Is this something our members are excited to lead?
-
Does this create a meaningful impact in our community?
-
Does this strengthen the identity of Rotaract as an action-oriented service club?
If the answer is no to most of these questions, the opportunity is unlikely to be pursued.
The Peace River Rotaract Club Will:
-
Create and lead community service projects.
-
Identify unmet community needs and develop initiatives to address them.
-
Organize events that align with the Club's mission.
-
Partner with organizations where Rotaract has an active leadership role.
-
Volunteer on projects that align with the Club's strategic priorities and capacity.
-
Support initiatives that encourage leadership, fellowship, and community involvement among members.
The Peace River Rotaract Club Will Not:
-
Provide financial sponsorships or donations upon request.
-
Act as a grant-making or funding organization.
-
Host or organize events on behalf of another organization.
-
Serve as a general volunteer pool for community events.
-
Accept projects solely because another organization requested them.
-
Commit Club resources to initiatives that fall outside our strategic priorities.
Partnerships:

The Club may partner with other organizations when:
-
Rotaract has a meaningful leadership or decision-making role.
-
The project aligns with our mission and strategic priorities.
-
Members have the capacity and interest to participate.
-
The partnership provides meaningful value to both organizations and the community.
How We Choose Projects:
Project ideas may come from members, community observations, or conversations with local organizations.
Regardless of where an idea originates, every project is evaluated based on:
-
Community need
-
Member interest
-
Club capacity
-
Expected impact
-
Alignment with the Rotaract mission
What Makes a Great Rotaract Project?
When considering a new project, the Club may also consider the following questions as a guide:
-
Does it benefit a large cross-section of the community?
-
Can people use it for free or very cheaply?
-
Will it still matter in 5-15 years?
-
Does it create connection between people, rather than just providing a thing?
-
Is there an obvious gap in Peace River right now?
-
Can Rotaract actually own the project from idea to completion?
-
Is the ongoing maintenance manageable?
-
Would people say, "I'm so glad Peace River has that"?
These questions are intended to guide discussion rather than act as pass/fail requirements. A strong project
may not meet every consideration, but should clearly address a meaningful community need and align with
the Club's mission, capacity, and commitment to action.
The Board retains the discretion to approve or decline any project based on these considerations.
Our Commitment
The Peace River Rotaract Club is committed to being known as an organization that takes action.
Rather than responding to every request for funding, volunteers, or event support, we focus our time,
energy, and resources on projects that our members believe will create lasting and meaningful impact within
our community.
We don't ask, "Who needs a cheque?" We ask, "What need can we solve?"
